Pep outdone at evey turn by Tuchel who played a tactical masterclass

Not a great game, but I was impressed at how well organised and disciplined Chelsea were, especially in their own half.

Jorginho and Kante were outstanding, Christensen came off the bench and did a great job, and the rest of the back four covered, communicated, and didn't give Man City much room to breathe.

All the same, Man City looked really out of sorts. Not their best by a long stretch.

Still, as a chelsea supporter ... I'll take it.

Pep Guardiola has lost a cup final for only the second time in his managerial career (lost 2 out of 15).

I do hope Rudigers shoulder is okay after breaking De Bruyne's nose and eye socket. Huh

I'm sure Rudiger's shoulder is OK, as he showed no sign of discomfort when it was his turn to lift the trophy. It was a block of course, but these things happen in football all the time without anyone being injured. Fernandinho came on as substitute and committed a similar block towards the end of the match. Then there was the one last night in the England match by Mings - which was in the area and should have been a penalty to Austria.

I loved Joe Cole's celebration by the way. That was one of the highlights of the evening. But I can understand it - Champions of Europe, what a feeling. I'm still feeling dazed myself. It was not so long ago we were 9th in the Premier League and people were saying we'd never beat Athletico Madrid in the last 16 of the Champions League. An amazing turnaround. And I think that if not for Chelsea, Man City would have won the quadruple this year

So much excitement recently with Chelsea winning the Champions League and England almost winning the Euros. And now without pause the new season's upon us with Chelsea's players reporting back for training yesterday (some of them anyway). Just 6 weeks until our first fixture!

What a year for Jorginho - double European champion! Not forgetting Emerson, who didn't play in the Champions League final but did score a goal in an earlier round and did play for Italy in the Euro Championship final.

As we've reached the start of a new season, I thought I'd fit in one more post on last season and our Champions League win.

Good news on Romelu Lukaku. Funnily enough, I think this could be the thing that gets Timo Werner firing. Someone to take the pressure of and occupy a couple of defenders, letting Werner exploit his speed a little more.

But I don’t like that all the pundits are now talking about Chelsea as if they are title favourites. Easier to be the underdog.
